The Association of the Belarusian Music Researchers (ABMR)

The Association of the Belarusian Music Researchers (ABMR) is a subdivision of the Belarusian Music Professionals Union (BMPU). The ABMR has been established for the scientific interpretation and popularization of the achievements in the field of academic music (composing and performing arts), for the discussion of urgent professional issues, their distribution, and for the active involvement of the ABMR members in the development of modern musicology in Belarus and beyond its borders. The official resolution to establish the ABMR was made on April 2, 2013 by the BMPU Council (Meeting Minutes №1/3). The guidance for the association is provided by the ABMR’s General Assembly and Coordinating Committee, with the ABMR’s Inspector as a controlling and auditing body. The Chairperson of the ABMR is T. Mdivani, with G. Tsmyg as the Vice-Chairperson, I. Gorbushina as the Secretary and N. Matsaberidze as the Inspector.

The Belarusian academic musicology reflects the most common tendencies in the development of modern science with its striving for humanization and a combination of theoretical and historical approaches to studying the musical arts and the spiritual values of the national culture. The last third of the XX century witnessed a strong rise in the Belarusian composing process, which covered all the musical genres including the symphonic genre (L. Abeliovich, E. Glebov, G. Gorelova, A. Mdivani, D. Smolskiy), the stage genre (G. Vagner, E. Glebov, S. Kortes, V. Kuznetsov, A. Mdivani, U. Semenyako, D. Smolskiy), the vocal symphonic genre (G. Vagner, V. Voytik, E. Glebov, V. Dorokhin, S. Kortes, A. Mdivani, D. Smolskiy, G. Surus, L. Shleg), the choral genre (A. Mdivani, L. Zakhlevnyi, A. Bondarenko, A. Litvinoskiy, L. Shleg, L. Simakovich), the folk orchestral genre (V. Ivanov, V. Kuryan, V. Kuznetsov, A. Mdivani, V. Pomozov, A. Raschinskiy, D. Smolskiy), the chamber vocal and chamber instrumental genres (L. Abeliovich, G. Gorelova, K. Tesakov), and the song genre (V. Budnik, V. Ivanov, I. Luchenok, U. Semenyako, E. Khanok). At the same time a number of brilliant and talented Belarusian musical performers of various specialties went out on stage. The intense creative activity displayed by the local composers and performers has defined the increased range of the scientific research. The are E.Dulova, R. Aladova, V. Antonevich, G. Kuleshova, O. Dadiomova, O. Savitskaya, T.Titova, E.Lisova, L. Volkova, N. Ganul, N. Arutiynova and other. A special place amid the Belarusian musical researchers is held the representatives of the Kholopov’s scientific tradition school including –. V. Gudey-Kashtalyan, I.Gorbushina, O. Dubatovskaya, E.Kurtenok, N. Matsaberidze, T. Mdivani, Rooij Alla de (A. Subbotniaya) and G. Tsmyg.
