Subbotniaya Alla

PhD of Art Criticism, Associate Professor, PhD researcher of Musicology of Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Ghent University (Belgium), member of the Belarusian Union of Musicians, member of the Royal Society for Music History (The Netherlands) (KVNM).

Alla Subbotniaya graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Music in the class "Piano" (1990–1995), in 2011 defended PhD thesis at the “Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts” in the Specialization 17.00.09 “Theory and History of Arts” with the theme "Realization of Oriental Traditions in the European Musical Art of Second Half ХХ - the XXI-st Century Beginnings", the supervisor – Doctor Ph., Professor, Senior researcher SSI "Research Center of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the NAS of Belarus", Winner of the State Prize Tatsiana Mdivani. In 2013 A. Subbotniaya was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.

Science interests: the interaction of East and West in the modern art of music, issues of globalization and integration of the global art space; musical upbringing and education as an integral component of harmoniously developed personality.

Educational activity: from 1998 till 2013 she taught at the Vitebsk State University, lectured on the history of music (XX-XXI centuries) and music theory for BA and MA students, was a supervisor of Master's theses, headed section of instrumental performance (piano), performed in concerts.

Publications: scientific results were published: monograph, articles in renowned international journals, training aids and materials of international scientific conferences (in Russian, Belarusian and English).

Awards: in 2004–2006 A. Subbotniaya taught at the East China Institute of Technology (ECIT) at the Faculty of Arts, was awarded the medal «Lushan Award» Jiangsi Provincial Government of China in 2005: http://202.101.244.180/ecitweb2007/news2007/newshtml/413.html
In 2011 because of marriage A. Subbotniaya changed her last name to A. de Rooij

Currently Alla de Rooij is a Doctorandus of Ghent University, the supervisor – Doctor of Arts (in Music), Professor Francis Maes.
